Using Hypnotherapy to Treat IBS and SIBO (Yes, Really!) with Dr. Peter Whorwell, MD

What if there was a research-backed, non-invasive, drug-free treatment that worked for FIVE years to significantly reduce bloating, pain, constipation, diarrhea, anxiety and depression? Good news: there is! It’s hypnotherapy, specific to treating SIBO and IBS symptoms. Pioneered by leading IBS doctor Peter Whorwell, MD, this overlooked treatment is changing lives for people who have tried everything for symptoms relief without success. Learn how and why hypnotherapy works (no, it’s not because your symptoms are “all in your head”) and get the exact therapy script Dr. Whorwell uses with his many patients in this Masterclass.

From Dr. Whorwell on finding a hypnotherapist:

"It is important that the therapist has some knowledge of and experience in dealing with IBS.  The problem is that the average hypnotherapist thinks of IBS as a psychological problem and just focuses on that.  I've compared just ordinary hypnosis with also directing it to the gut, and the gut component proved to be essential."

From Dr. Whorwell on dosing:

"With regard to the dose, we do 12 sessions at weekly intervals with the patient encouraged to practice daily if possible.  We have been looking at six sessions and that seems to work in the milder cases.  After treatment the majority stay well as long as they practice now and again, although many don't because they think they are fixed. Those can get in to trouble again.  We provide 'top ups' for people who 'relapse' and can usually settle them down in a couple of sessions."
